Port of Amsterdam, which is currently one of the largest coal and petrol transhipment ports in Europe, is undergoing a major transition to a sustainable port as part of the Amsterdam Climate Program to become a sustainable metropolis by 2040. Shore power supplies are available for ships docked in the port that will prevent the emission of hazardous substances and reduce noise pollution. Other efforts done by the Port of Amsterdam to become a sustainable port are installation of new wind turbines and solar panel installations.
