Science Festival Film Malaysia 2013

The 3rd Science Festival Malaysia 2013 will be held from 21st November – 15th December 2013. This festival will be organised by The Geothe-Institute Malaysia in cooperation with the Malaysian Nature Society, Malaysian-German Institute, SIEMES, Ministry of Education and MAP Publika. During the festival, there will be screenings at Nature Parks in Kuala Selangor, at MAP KL Solaris, at the German-Malaysian Institute and SIEMENS as well as at more than 450 schools nationwide.

National Recycling Day 2013

Don’t Trash Your Future…Recycle is the theme chosen for National Recycling Day 2013 which will be launched on 16th November 2013 at Malaysian Tourism Centre (Matic) Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur by Ministry of Urban Being, Housing and Local Government. The main objective of this event is to educate and encourage Malaysians to practice recycling in their daily lives. Many activities are planned for this event such as seminars, talks and a mini carnival attended by 20 exhibitors.

On October 29 and 30, 2013, ILSAS Bangi was the stage for brilliant minds to come together to share their passion and knowledge in electric vehicles (EV). TNB Integrated Learning Solution (ILSAS) collaborating with SUMO, hosted a 2-days training course entitled “Green Transportation” and the electric car showcase was one of the highlights of the course.
The representatives from two different organisations demonstrated their EV models to the excited participants. Edaran Tan Chong Motors (ETCM) showed their Nissan Leaf and demonstrated the different features of the car while a team of engineering students from UNITEN displayed a modified police car, which they assembled and designed themselves using 90% locally made products. The bonus was the rare opportunity of being taken for a short drive in the EVs.
As a result of the course material they had learned, the participants were able to ask deep and thoughtful questions regarding EV and its deployment to which the EV representatives responded very professionally. The event was successful in connecting the information learned in the classroom to real life applications. SUMO is delighted at the fantastic outcome of this event and look forward to providing more learning opportunities with the support from our partners in UNITEN and Edaran Tan Chong Motors.

Introduction to Birdwatching Course

The competition aims at raising awareness about the importance of preserving the state’s natural resources through sustainable use as well as keeping the environment clean and healthy through proper and responsible waste management practises.
In conjunction with Santubong Nature Festival, Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd jointly cooperated with Malaysia Nature Society Kuching Branch will be organizing an Eco-Fashion Competition on the 9th November 2013. Malaysia Nature Society Kuching Branch and Permai Rainforest Resort will be hosting The Santubong Nature Festival on the 9th & 10th November 2013. Interesting activities such as photography contest, boats trips, talks and “Secret Rooms” will be held in Kuching and Santubong peninsula during these two days festival.
