Terrapin Release – Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia (TCS)

Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia (TCS) carries out two river terrapin conservation projects in the Setiu and Kemaman Rivers, Terengganu. Through these projects and with the collaboration with the local communities, a maximum number of river terrapin eggs are secured for incubation. Upon emergence, some river terrapin hatchlings are released immediately while the remaining hatchlings are raised for approximately six to ten months before they are also released into the respective rivers.

Each year, as part of fund-raising efforts, TCS puts up river terrapins for adoption. Each terrapin adoption costs RM30 (or US$10), and you will be furnished with a personalized Certificate of Adoption. You are also encouraged to name your adopted terrapin(s)! All funds raised through the Terrapin Adoption Programme will be used to carry out river terrapin conservation projects in the future. TCS is holding the next Terrapin Release event, where you will have the opportunity to release your adopted terrapin(s) into the river. This event will take place behind Masjid Jambi, Kampung Pasir Gajah, Kemaman, Terengganu at 4:00pm.

Course for Certified Environmental Professional in Scheduled Waste Management (CePSWaM)

2nd – 6th September 2013

Environmental Institute of Malaysia (EiMAS) is conducting 17 sessions of the CePSWaM for the year 2013. The 9th session of the course will be held from 2nd – 6th September 2013 tentatively at Ancasa All Suite Resort & Spa, Port Dickson. This course is a certification programme of the Department of Environment (DOE) designed to certify managers, operators or supervisors who are involved in managing toxic and hazardous waste (scheduled waste) at industrial facilities. Course for Certified Environmental Professional in the Operation of Industrial Effluent Treatment Systems (Biological Processes – Activated Sludge Process) (CePIETSO (BP))

Environmental Institute of Malaysia (EiMAS) is conducting 14 series of CePIETSO (BP) for year 2013. The 9th series of the course will be held from 25th – 30th August 2013 at Institut Teknologi Petroleum PETRONAS, INSTEP, Kuala Terengganu. This course is a certification programme of the Department of Environment (DOE) designed to certify operators and supervisors of industrial effluent treatment system (IETS).

World Indigenous Peoples Day Celebrations 2013,Pahang

8th to 10th August 2013

The United Nations has designated August 9 as the World Indigenous Peoples Day. This year the national-level 2013 Word Indigenous Peoples Day Celebrations will be celebrated over a 3-day period in Pahang. Organised by the Indigenous Peoples Network of Malaysia (JOAS, this year's event will be held in a village-setting. The Jah Hut community of Kampung Pian in Kuala Krau (between Temerloh and Jerantut) have graciously agreed to be the hosts. In addition, about 200 Orang Asal participants, including those from Sabah and Sarawak, are confirmed to attend.
