EIA Induction Course for EIA Consultants

21st – 22nd May 2013, 18th – 19th September 2013

A series of Induction Courses for EIA Consultants has been scheduled for 2013. The course, organised by Environmental Institute of Malaysia (EiMAS) and Department of Environment Malaysia (DOE) is limited to the first 40 participants. The course is compulsory for individuals who are currently registered as EIA Consultant, Subject Consultant or Assistant Consultant. The course is also open for individuals who wish to apply to be registered in the future.

International Hydropower Association (IHA) World Congress

The International Hydropower Association (IHA) will hold a world congress in Kuching, Sarawak in May which will bring together a range of key actors from all over the world. This year’s congress will be themed ‘Advancing Sustainable Hydropower’

Assuring Sustainability via University with Research (ASSURE) 2013

ASSURE 2013 which will be hosted in Songkhla, Thailand, mainly focuses on new directions of research and postgraduate education to achieve ASEAN and global sustainability. Seminar on Project Planning Towards Sustainable Development

Department of Environment (DOE) is holding a seminar on Project Planning towards Sustainable Development at Concorde Hotel, Shah Alam targeting the project developers, consultants and contractors.

Among the objectives of the seminar are:

1.       To expose participants with the procedures and guidelines for submitting a project proposal development according to needs and requirements of the DOE

2.       To provide information to participants about the transformation of the EIA Report processing procedures for a number of specified activities

There will be 6 presentation sessions delivered by experts from DOE, Department of Town and Country Planning Selangor and Department of Mineral and Geoscience Selangor.

MNS Celebrates World Tapir Day

Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) is celebrating World Tapir Day in Taman Negara as a public event for the first time ever in Malaysia. The main objective of the celebration is to create awareness on the importance of Malayan Tapir conservation especially in Peninsular Malaysia. There will be events such as guided walks, colouring competition, talks and musical performance. There is also an overnight camp for local students.
